From the Affairs of the Days of Ignorance - Sheikh Saalih al-Fawzaan

Sheikh Salih al-Fawzan (حفظه الله) mentions:

From the affairs of the days of ignorance: is that the people would conclude from that which the majority were on as being the truth, and that which the minority were upon as being falsehood, so according to them that which the majority were upon was the correct way and that which the minority were upon was incorrect, this was the scale of measurement they used in determining truth from falsehood, and this is wrong, as Allah the Most High says:

“And if you were to obey the majority (of people) on the earth, they would lead you astray from the path of Allah. They follow nothing but conjectures, and they do nothing but lie.”

[Surah An’am, ayah 116]
